Investigation: Research (Facts)

1. AUP or (acceptable use policy) is a set of rules applied by a network and by the website owners which restricts the ways in which the network or site may be used, for example there are acceptable use policies at schools and work places and in some cases entire countries. As well as being what we can and cant do it is also what we should do to help make our life online and others as safe and enjoyable as possible.

2.  Rights and responsibilities is a key area of internet safety, with out it you leave your self upon to many different online attacks from fraud, to online bullying. The three main areas of rights and responsibilities are AUP, Use online material ethically, Report cyberbullies and threats.

3. Using online material ethically, including citing sources and requesting permissions

4. Reporting cyberbullies, threats, and other inappropriate use
5. Following Responsible Use policies and using technology responsibly both inside and outside school

6.  Digital Rights & Responsibilities:   those freedoms extended to everyone in a digital world.
Just as in the American Constitution where there is a Bill of Rights, there is a basic set of rights extended to every digital citizen. Digital citizens have the right to privacy, free speech, etc. Basic digital rights must be addressed, discussed, and understood in the digital world.  With these rights also come responsibilities as well.  Users must help define how the technology is to be used in an appropriate manner.  In a digital society these two areas must work together for everyone to be productive.
http://www.digitalcitizenship.net/Nine_Elements.html

7. There are basic rights for those who use the internet. Some of these basic rights include freedom of speech and the right to privacy.

8. However those who use the internet must remember that what they do and what they write/post on the internet is solely their responsibility and they need to take caution when using the internet.
9.

Examples of Appropriate Digital Rights & Responsibilities

- Citing websites or other digital media sources when using information for class projects.
- Being aware of one's rights when using digital technologies, but also being aware of one's responsibilities.

Reflection for today Create/Evaluate 10/12/11

Toady I finished the final product for the Design Cycle project. I created a quiz game that would basically test the knowledge and understanding of the stages of the Design Cycle. I would rate my self a 5 in attitudes in technology because I really was not in track to finish my assignments on time, but the rest I was really positive about the project. I did try my best to start to create and finish making the quiz by today. I also consistently worked today for the whole period trying to finish the quiz.

Investigation Reflection

This past weeks I have been Investigating different type of ways to make 6th graders understand the Design Cycle. I had to choose two different type of tools that I thought would be helpful to understand the Design Cycle. The tools I chose were Flip Book and Purpose Game. The one I decided to use was the purpose game because I think the students will enjoy playing and learning. I would rate my self a 5 because I actually had to decide which of my two options were the best. I reflected on both decisions I chose and i compared them both. I believe I deserve a 5 because I had to work hard and investigate why this would be helpful for the sixth graders. The way I decided to evaluate the choice I made was to ask about 3 sixth graders to play the game and ask them if they understood what the Design Cycle was.

Design Stage

 Reflection: Design
Today I had to design three designs that would make my game/quiz successful. I would rate myself a 5 because I did my work on  time and did it with  a positive attitude. I did everything I was told to do. I followed steps to make my designs easy.

DESIGN SPECIFICATION

Design Brief

10. Write a short statement of what you are going to make, why you are going to make it, and for whom you are making it. I am basically going to make a game that will make it easy for a sixth grader to understand the Design Cycle.
Formulate a Design Specification
11. What are the requirements for this assignment? I am required to use sixth grade vocabulary, make it easy to understand, creative, and fun.
12. What are the limitations you have with this assignment? I need to make a presentation that has to be 2 minutes long no more or less.
13. How will you "test" your project? I will ask some sixth graders to try it out and ask them what they have learned.

Theme Choice:
I gave this person a 10 because I really did like it. It is a really good way to learn new things. I myself learned how to play this game. It was really understandable and creative. I liked to play this game and understand new ways to learn. I can defiantly use this to help others learn.
I would defiantly try to change other things like maybe the way it looks. Make it easier and funner for them to have fun. I will make them enjoy the game(well its a quiz) and make them want to play it every day. I will make it understandable so they can understand the concept of the Design Cycle. It will be fun way to learn.
Character Choice:
I gave this person a 0 because there was no character because it is a game quiz not a game with characters with them.
Font Choice:
I gave this person a 9 because I liked the type of font and the font change face. I thought it was really simple and really nice. I thought it did fit the background and the colors. I really think the students will understand it and it will be good ton understand. I think the students will enjoy it.
I think I will probably like to make it bigger. I will defently take in consideration the way it looks and make it readable for the readers and players. I will add more sixth grade vocabulary.
Music Choice:
I gave it a 0 because it also did not have a music because it was a quiz there was not really much to make it entertaining.
Simplicity.3
I gave the person an 8 because it was not really that simple it was more colorful. The colors were really nice and pretty. The colors were too colorful. They did fit the game. I would probably add less color and make look nice. Not too girly and not too boyish.

Theme choice:
I gave this person a 7 because it was really creative and well understandable. I did enjoy looking at it. I thought it was really simple. It was not that pretty at all. I thought it was not a good way for the sixth graders to understand. I think they just did it in a rush it was not that creative. I would definitely try to make it prettier. Even thought it was really simple it is a very nice way to make sixth graders understand. It will be really easy thing to do,  but it will be hard to draw characters.
  Character choice and font choice:
I liked it a lot because the characters were unique. They were really nice because they were really colorful. They tried their best but I gave the person a 6. She should have drawn it better. She could have made it more understandable and add less color to the drawings.
On the music part I have it and 1 because there was no writing. I thought it was not good quality. There absolutely no writing in the flip book. Some writing would be good so we can understand the concept.
Music choice and simplicity:
I gave it a 2 on music because it had to music. They should have added some music to make it more interesting and awesome. It would definitely look nice. I gave the simplicity an 8 because it was simple. It was not that colorful or many characters. It was really broad. It didn’t look that enjoyable but it was still good.

Refection

Today I investigated to find a tool that will be useful for the sixth graders to use to understand the Design Cycle. I evaluated the flip book and the Arcade games. This both are really helpful tools that can be very interesting. Both were really hard to choose but i believed that the game was way better. I enjoyed this game i thought it was really good. I thought it was really easy and understandable.

Design Folder

Area of Interaction: Community and Service , Approaches to Learning & Human Ingenuity
Significant Concept: Design Cycle can be used to solve problems
Unit Question: How can my learning help my community? How do I make Sound Choices?
INVESTIGATE: (Write in complete sentences) Identify the Problem
1. What is the problem you need to solve?  I need to explain the design cycle in 2minutes so a 6th grader can be able to understand it.
2. How does the Design Cycle apply to the real world?  It applies to the real world because everywhere we go we need to use the design cycle like in college.
3. How will this project serve my community? It will help my community because it will be easier and understandable for the people out there to understand the Design Cycle.
4. How can my learning help my community? My learning will help the community because when ever people want to know what the Design Cycle they will be able to ask me and I will explain it or go to the activity I did to explain the steps.
5. How do we live in relation to each other? We live in relation to each other because we all in one point or another have to live one similar experience.
6. How does this help others? It will help others because when ever they have projects they will always have to use the Design Cycle as reference.
7. What are the requirements for this assignment? The requirement of the project is to make 6th graders understand the Design Cycle. We need to make them understand it with an activity we need to make.
8. What is the Design Cycle? The design cycle is composed of four stages where you have to use in order to make a good project.
REFLECT on your learning.
Day 2
9. Spend one day experimenting with DESIGN CYCLE your presentation. List five things your learned about the Design Cycle:
